Chiefs for Change Future Chief Rob Anderson was selected today to serve as Superintendent for the Boulder Valley School District. Anderson brings 21 years of experience working in education and currently serves as Deputy Superintendent of Academics for Fulton County Public Schools in Georgia. He is a member of the third cohort of Chiefs for Change’s Future Chiefs program, which aims to build a diverse pipeline for the next generation of bold and innovative state and district education leaders.
“Rob is an experienced, talented leader with proven results in supporting all kids on their path to college and meaningful careers,” said Chiefs for Change CEO Mike Magee. “Our community of bold, innovative leaders is excited to partner with and stand behind him as he hits the ground running in Boulder.”
The Chiefs for Change “Future Chiefs” program was created to address the lack of practical preparation for the complex job of leading state and large urban school systems. The program identifies some of the most talented, diverse emerging leaders, integrates them into a community with current Chiefs, and gives them a set of experiences, placement supports, and preparation that will enable school systems to choose skilled, ready leaders. As a new Chief, Anderson will continue to participate in the program, where he will have access to the support and mentorship of some of the nation’s most successful education system leaders.
“Rob knows schools, and he knows how to bring people together to solve the most challenging problems vexing our school systems,” said Chiefs for Change member Robert Avossa. “He has both the practical experience and the vision to be successful, and I’m looking forward to seeing everything he accomplishes in partnership with students, families, and educators.”
As Superintendent of the Boulder Valley School District, Anderson will support about 30,000 students and more than 4,000 employees. “I’m thrilled and honored to have been selected to lead Boulder Valley schools,” Anderson said. “I look forward to working with the community toward a vision of equity and excellence for all students.”
