Chiefs for Change issued the following statement today on theĀ Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act, which heads to President Trump after being approved in the House and Senate:
This measure will help students acquire the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the workforce. It will create opportunities to revamp outdated career and technical education (CTE) programs that have failed generations of students. CTE should be rigorous, relevant, and aligned to the job market. It should provide a pathway to a meaningful career, giving young people a chance to climb the ladder and live the American dream. As a bipartisan network of state and district education Chiefs, we are pleased to see Congress come together to pass this legislation. We hope this spirit of cooperation will continue and will lead to even greater opportunities for students to move into high-growth, high-demand jobs.
