Chiefs for Change issued the following statement on news that Lewis Ferebee was unanimously confirmed as chancellor of DC Public Schools:
Lewis Ferebee is the bold, transformational leader that DC Public Schools needs. We applaud the DC Council for confirming him today as chancellor. A champion for all students, Lewis is driven by a commitment to transparency, an understanding of the value of community engagement, and an abiding belief that every student should attend a great school. He has spent the past two months meeting with families, teachers, principals, and students, visiting campuses at every grade level throughout DC. By building community trust and setting high expectations, Lewis will work to ensure that all students have an excellent education and every opportunity to thrive and succeed.
