Dr. Arsenio Romero is superintendent and CEO of Deming Public Schools in Deming, N.M. He also serves as a lead performance coach and executive coach for the New Mexico Public Education Department.

Prior to his time in Deming, he was assistant superintendent for instruction and turnaround in New Mexico’s Roswell Independent School District. Romero has also worked as an teacher, principal, and adjunct professor, and was appointed to the New Mexico State University (NMSU) Board of Regents in 2020. He has more than 23 years of leadership, managerial, and executive experience.

Romero earned a Ph.D. in educational management and development and a bachelor’s in elementary education from NMSU. He also holds a master’s in educational administration and leadership from the University of New Mexico. Romero is a member of the fifth cohort of the Future Chiefs leadership development program.
