Dr. Christina Grant is state superintendent for the District of Columbia. Prior to D.C., she was chief of charters and innovation for The School District of Philadelphia, where she worked to expand new school models and instructional methods designed to meet students’ diverse needs.

Throughout her career, Grant has demonstrated a commitment to educational equity and access for all students—particularly those from marginalized communities. She is the past superintendent of the Great Oaks Foundation, a charter management organization that opens schools in high-need communities. In that role, Grant supported and coached principals, managed professional development, monitored performance evaluations, and launched schools in New York, Connecticut, and Delaware. She got her start in education as a public school teacher in Harlem, N.Y., through Teach For America.

A member of the fifth cohort of the Future Chiefs leadership development program, Grant has a doctorate in education from the University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Teachers College of Columbia University, and degrees from Fordham University and Hofstra University.
