Dr. Faviola Cantú is the chief academic officer at Aldine Independent School District, overseeing curriculum development, instructional practices and assessments for over 57,000 students from Pre-K through 12th grade. She is committed to data-driven decision-making and systemic accountability to enhance operational effectiveness and student outcomes. In her role, Dr. Cantú implements rigorous assessments aligned with district and state standards, optimizing instructional time and fostering continuous improvement. She leads professional learning initiatives to support teachers in meeting diverse student needs and serves as a pivotal member of the superintendent’s cabinet, providing leadership across critical academic departments such as literacy, mathematics and special education.

Previously, Dr. Cantú served as the school assistant superintendent in Aldine, significantly improving instructional programs across 15 campuses. Her career includes impactful roles as a bilingual teacher, assistant principal and principal, where she championed inclusive models for special education and dual language instruction.

Dr. Cantú actively engages in educational leadership forums and serves as president of the Association of Latinx Leaders in Aldine, a non-profit organization she co-founded. Her transformative leadership continues to inspire positive change and cultivate a culture of growth and achievement district-wide.

Dr. Cantú holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston, a master’s in education administration from Concordia University and a doctorate in professional leadership from the University of Houston.
