Leslie Brown is a former superintendent of the East Baton Rouge Parish School System in Louisiana. Prior to that, she served as chief portfolio services officer for Broward County Public Schools in Florida. In that role, Brown designed and led district processes related to facilities management, real estate, municipal and community partnerships, educational programs, school choice, demographics and enrollment planning, student athletics/activities, and charter school support services. Brown increased participation in specialized school options by more than 36 percent and helped transform underperforming campuses into successful schools of choice. Her previous experience also includes opening and serving as principal of a charter school, working as an art curriculum specialist, and designing district support structures for the state turnaround schools system in Florida.
Brown was a member of the second cohort of the Future Chiefs leadership development program. She graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in art education and studio art. Brown also holds two master’s degrees, one in art education and one in educational leadership.
