As an associate, Alexandra provides technical assistance to chiefs and their teams in developing and implementing city or state-specific policies, research plans, and other projects. Before joining Chiefs for Change, she served as a special assistant to U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos. In her role, she worked closely with the director of outreach and senior counselor to the secretary to advance a range of policy priorities including building employer-education partnerships, promoting skills-based hiring strategies, expanding school choice opportunities, and strengthening teacher recruitment and retention efforts. In addition, Alexandra assisted the deputy chief of staff for operations in identifying, developing, and maintaining relationships with government officials, stakeholders, and educators. Prior to that, she worked for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education and the Workforce, where she assisted the director of member services and coalitions. Alexandra’s previous experience also includes her time at a bipartisan, bicameral government affairs consulting firm and multiple bipartisan legislative internships with members of Congress and congressional committees. She graduated with honors from the Trent Lott Leadership Institute and holds a bachelor’s degree in public policy leadership from The University of Mississippi.
