Chiefs for Change CEO Mike Magee made the following statement today about the Chicago Teachers Union Strike:
Chicago Public Schools are making unprecedented gains.The district has a record-high graduation rate and a record-low dropout rate, a record number of high schoolers earning college credit and industry certifications, and a record number of students continuing their studies after high school. The Chicago Teachers Union strike could jeopardize the recent academic progress and hurt students and families. We urge union leaders to return to the bargaining table and work with CPS CEO Janice Jackson to reach a deal that balances the needs of students, teachers, and taxpayers.
