Dale Schmidt
Chief of Technical Assistance Program Management
Dale leads a team that works with our chiefs in residence and high-quality external partners to provide requested technical assistance to school districts and state education departments. The technical assistance team engages with superintendents and others to understand a system’s needs and examine relevant issues. Based on that information, the team then helps the system develop and implement programs, evaluate their impact, and scale those efforts that are shown to make a difference. Part of this work involves producing toolkits and resources that other systems can use to learn about promising ways to address common problems.
A strategic thinker with deep experience in strategic planning and project, program, and performance management, Dale joined Chiefs for Change after serving as director of performance management at Broward County Public Schools. During his eight years with the district, Dale transformed organizational and operational performance by instituting a collaborative, data-driven, and adaptive approach to continuous improvement. He oversaw the launch, implementation, monitoring, and control of more than 20 strategic initiatives, and advised district leaders on a range of complex matters. Additionally, Dale spent many years in the private sector, with roles in market intelligence, product management, and customer marketing at Nokia, formerly Nokia Siemens Networks. Dale holds a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University and an MBA from the University of Florida.
